Happy 1st Day of Spring! We enjoyed a lazy Spring Happy 1st Day of Spring! We enjoyed a lazy Spring Break around here last week… it was a bit too cold for our liking, but hoping it warms up soon lol.

I have some fresh flowers 💐 in the kitchen and am feeling ready to tackle these last couple of months before summer break! Wes and I have been mapping out some summer road trip plans, so it’s definitely exciting to have our big trip to look forward to!

Happy #internationalwomensday from my beautiful gi Happy #internationalwomensday from my beautiful girls and me! This is a busy week for us, so I’m extra grateful that we’re having Spring Break next week! My plans include super fun activities like cleaning and organizing our house 🤣👏🏼
I downloaded these free, editable sight-word cards I downloaded these free, editable sight-word cards from @morningstogether (she has sooo many other amazing resources too!) I used the flower pot 🪴 and ladybug 🐞 designs (each set has the same words), as well as a floral pattern I found on google for the back, and printed everything on cardstock. I then laminated the paper, cut out the little cards, and used my corner rounder for the edges.

Because there were so many cards, once a word was flipped over we left it face-up until matches were found. The girls took turn flipping one card at a time, reading the word in the card, and looking to see if there was a match already flipped over. (Each sight word has a ladybug & flower pot card.)

Once they have the sight words memorized, I plan to break the cards down into smaller sets for the traditional “memory” style game where you flip the cards back over if no match is made.

I also used the scrap edges of the flower design to make counting sticks for use with the 1-12 flower pots.

*This one is totally dependent on the kiddo. Most of mine LOVE getting to “play” with the letter tiles as part of school, but one of the kids despises them 🤣. We gladly use them for the kids that like them, and don’t force them for the child that doesn’t 🙌🏼

Happy birthday to my sweet William Wesley!! This b Happy birthday to my sweet William Wesley!! This boy is 8 years old today, and he is extra excited because he *gets to* give a speech at school today 😏 We can’t wait to celebrate this cutie!
I want to start off by saying that I LOVE homescho I want to start off by saying that I LOVE homeschooling! It has been a huge blessing in our family, and I know for many other families. But I also want to address a common mindset I’ve seen shared, that harshly criticizes anyone who chooses a different route for their children. The reason I love #homeschooling is because it usually allows for a better chance of adjusting schooling precisely to an individual child’s needs. (And of course I like being around my kids 😉)

However we have also found that some of our children are eager for additional experiences, educational opportunities, and social settings found in the traditional school setting, and letting them go that route has been such a big blessing as well!

I also acknowledge that not every family has the option to choose whatever they want for school, but I want to encourage families to not be afraid to explore the options they DO have and to not compare or judge other families for choosing a different route. 🖤
I am so excited to finally be sharing our process I am so excited to finally be sharing our process for making over our fireplace! It’s only been three years since we moved into our home, and I really did love the shiplap that we originally installed, but we were having too many issues with it to leave it up. We completed this project in the fall, and I’ve finally taken the time to sit down and type out the process. I am so so happy with the results and love our new brick fireplace even more!

Our First Blog

I first started blogging in 2011, a few months after our first child was born. It was mostly GF recipes and crafts, but eventually I began to include our family as well. In 2017 I decided to start fresh with BROhaha, but I did import most of our old posts here! (You may still see the "DCL" watermarks on old pis as well!)
