“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 It can be very difficult when going through trials to understand why it happening, or how it could possibly ever “be used for good” when it’s currently terrible. Sometimes we never get answers to why things happen, but other times we are blessed in seeing how it is turned around for God’s glory.

In January 2014, on Hayden’s birthday, I was 7 weeks pregnant with what would have been our third child. I was scrambling around to get ready for her party that night, when I started to experience some bleeding. To make a long story short, I was able to quickly get into my midwife who confirmed my worst fears, that we had lost our little baby. We hadn’t announced the pregnancy yet, so I told no one at that time aside from my husband.

Fast forward a little over 9 months later. I was 5 months pregnant with William, and we received a call that would change our lives forever. This social worked had a newborn baby girl that they couldn’t find a placement for. She had spoken to 7 families, who all declined. I cannot explain to you how Wes and I both knew we needed to take her. We had turned down other babies knowing that I’d be giving birth soon. But God moved our hearts to take her anyways.

It didn’t even occur to me at the time, but later on I realized the timing of events. Zoey’s life was conceived almost exactly when we had lost our pregnancy. If I had given birth to that babe just before she was born, we would have not been in a position to take her. God used our loss to perfectly time our family and adoption.
The necklace I’m wearing in these pictures is from TheKnottedNest. It has six little “eggs” in the nest representing our six sweet babes here on earth, and one little egg just above the nest representing our babe in heaven. ?
